Focus 2030 puts a V8 hybrid on the Lotus roadmap

The interesting part of Focus 2030 is a future Lotus supercar with a V8 and electric assistance. We’ve already seen the company take the all-electric route with Evija, pictured here. The V8 proposal gives Lotus a different set of problems to solve.

Where does the battery go? What does the whole thing weigh? What happens when you squeeze the throttle halfway round a bend? A strategy announcement can tell us which engine Lotus wants to use. It can’t tell us whether the response will feel natural, or how easy the car will be to place on a narrow road.

A production spec and a proper drive will answer more than the power target. Until then, the V8 is a plan rather than a finished car.
