The 2024 Carrera GTS was the first road-going 911 with Porsche’s T-Hybrid setup. There’s a 3.6-litre flat-six, an electric motor in the transmission and an electric motor on the turbo. The last of those is the bit worth dwelling on: it can spin up the turbo before the exhaust has built enough energy to do it by itself.

You don’t need a launch-control run to see why that matters. Think about opening the throttle again after slowing for a bend, when the engine is nowhere near its peak. A shorter wait makes it easier to judge how much power to ask for.
An Emira and a 911 still put their engines in different places and feel different for it. But throttle response is something you can compare on a decent road without getting anywhere near the brochure figures.
