Imagine two chargers on the same route. One advertises a higher peak, but there’s usually a queue and the bays are awkward. The other is a little slower and you can usually plug straight in. If the aim is to get back on the motorway sooner, the second might be the better stop.

The same distinction applies to the car. Emeya charging figures prompted plenty of interest in 2024, but peak power is the best moment in a session. Look at the time from 10 to 80 per cent, whether the battery was warmed before arrival, and how many miles that energy buys on your route.
If you charge at home, check how often you actually need a public top-up. There’s no point buying around a problem you rarely have.
