Before you fall for an Exige, work out how you’ll use it. Try getting in beside a kerb, check the clearance at the garage and drive far enough to decide how you feel about the noise. Those things seem trivial on a sunny test drive. They can decide whether you use the car once a week or once a month.
Ask about modifications one at a time. What was changed, who fitted it and is there an invoice? Track use needn’t put you off a car with good preparation and maintenance. Equally, a standard-looking car can still have worn consumables or overdue jobs.
Leave some money for the first season and drive it as it is for a while. You’ll have a better idea what, if anything, you want to change.
