LoTRDC stalwart Steve Williams will team up with former Lotus Formula One driver Martin Donnelly in an Evora for a joint assault on the Lotus Cup UK title.<\/p>\n

Williams, whose eponymous garage business will build and prepare the car, is taking advantage of the new GTN kit offered by the Norfolk manufacturer. Starting with a road car, the package of suspension and powertrain upgrades brings the V6-powered Lotus up to full race specification. With Donnelly piloting a works-entered car to victory at Snetterton last year, the combination has huge potential, however the first Evora GTN is sure to need time to get up to full speed. At least three more similar cars are also expected to join the grid during the year. <\/p>\n

A race win for Williams with the Evora would mean that the Lotus veteran will have won in the Production and 2-Eleven classes, as well as the former Modified class, since renamed Open. Donnelly\u2019s pedigree is well-known; however he too has won in three categories of LoTRDC racing since his debut in the Elise Trophy\u2019s maiden year.<\/p>\n

Looking forward to his 2012 campaign, Donnelly said: \u201cThe GT4 Evora is a formidable car and the GTN kit will give us something very good too. Steve builds a good car and is great to race with, so I\u2019m sure it\u2019ll be a good year for us both.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMartin\u2019s tough to beat so I thought it would be better to have him on the same side,\u201d Williams added. \u201cIt\u2019ll be a lot of hard work to develop the Evora in addition to our mechanical support for some of the competitors but I love racing too much not to have a go!\u201d<\/p>\n
